Reviews for Spin Me a Web

Fast-paced, thrilling romance
Caitlin Cameron thinks she has hit upon a priceless idea when she invites the readers of her column in Antique Autos Magazine to help her find the person who stole four antique and very expensive cars. Others don't necessarily agree. Although the response to her column has been extremely positive, the self-made sleuth is beginning to receive threats on her life, and her publisher looks like he wants to pull the column entirely. Never one to give up, Caitlin hits upon an even better idea. She'll solicit the help of world-famous tennis player, Rick Falconer, an avid car lover himself. Rick, who is better looking in person than on television, has just purchased a one-of-a-kind antique automobile, and that car would serve as perfect bait for Caitlin to set her trap and catch the thief. A great idea, if Rick would agree. Instead, he flatly refuses, although he does express an interest in pursuing a relationship with the sultry Caitlin -- surprising, considering famous people and journalists usually mix like oil and water. Rick steadfastly refuses Caitlin's repeated attempts to entice him to agree to use his car, when suddenly the priceless auto is stolen from his garage! Now the police are wondering if Rick is responsible for the theft -- to collect on insurance money -- and Rick and Caitlin begin working together to find the real culprit. The two work better as a team, although there is still danger -- both to their new relationship, and to their lives. SPIN ME A WEB is a fun, fast-paced read that will entertain and amuse while you weave your way through the world of antique automobiles, an area not usually covered in romantic suspense novels. The main characters are well developed, especially Caitlin, who, although somewhat headstrong is likeable because of her straightforward nature and honesty. A whodunit until the end, there are plenty of secondary characters in the novel that are potential culprits - guessing which one is the thief will keep you reading until the very end.

Knowing there is no one else, Gwynifer goes against her family’s wishes and secretly books passage to France for herself and a slave. The day she leaves, she posts a letter to Jeremy Madison, the man she hopes to marry. She tells him of her plans, dreaming that he will follow her to France, help her find Jillian, and declare his love for her. Jeremy doesn’t want to marry, but is more attracted to the foolish, headstrong Gwynifer than to any woman he has known. When he’s coincidentally assigned as a diplomat to Paris, he realizes he must find and help her, hopefully without falling in love. Shirley K. Wolford has written a highly suspenseful, exquisitely sensual novel that will have you holding your breath until the very end....
